Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about how Tafuta Career works.
Is Tafuta Career free?
Yes. Every feature is free and there are no ads. You do not need an account.
Is this an official Ministry of Education website?
No. Tafuta Career is an independent career guidance tool. For official rules on pathways, subjects and placement, check with the Ministry of Education, KICD, KNEC or your school. See the official sources page for links.
How does the Career Matcher work?
You choose a pathway and at least three subjects. For each career we count how many of its listed subjects you take and rank careers by that share. If you have taken the interest quiz, your interests count for 40% of the ranking and subjects for 60%, and you can switch this off.
What is the interest quiz?
It is 24 pairs of activities, about three minutes. You pick the one you would rather do. The result is a three-letter Holland (RIASEC) code that describes the kind of work you enjoy. It is a guide for thinking, not a test, and it cannot say what you must choose.
Where are my results stored?
In your own browser only. Saved careers, matcher history, your quiz result and your choices are not sent to us. On a shared computer, delete them when you finish or clear your browser data.
Does the AI chat see my information?
The chat sends your last few messages, and your quiz code if you have one, to an AI provider so it can reply. We mask email addresses and phone-like numbers first and do not store your messages. Please do not share personal details. The privacy page has the full details.
Can the AI chat be wrong?
Yes. Treat its answers as a starting point and confirm important things, such as subject rules, fees or admission requirements, with your school or the official sources.
Are the salary figures exact?
No. They are approximate ranges and vary by employer, location and experience.
Which subject combinations are allowed?
We are still confirming the official combination rules, so the Subject Builder shows what you picked and the careers it opens up without declaring a combination valid. Please check the rules with your school and the Ministry of Education.
Can I use Tafuta Career in class?
Yes. The teachers page has a short session plan and a printable class sheet. Nothing typed on the sheet is stored.
Can I print my results?
Yes. The matcher results page has a Print / PDF button, and career pages can be printed too.
Is the site available in Kiswahili?
A Kiswahili version of the main interface is being reviewed and is not switched on yet. Career descriptions are in English.
