Privacy

The short version

• There are no accounts. You do not give us your name, phone number or email to use the site.
• Your saved careers, quiz result and choices stay in your own browser. We cannot see them.
• If you use the AI chat, what you type is sent to an AI provider so it can answer. Please do not type names, phone numbers or other personal details.

Kept in your browser

These are saved on your device using your browser's local storage. They are not sent to us.

• Saved careers: the careers you bookmark
• Matcher history: your last matcher runs (pathway, subjects, number of matches, a reference code and the date)
• Interest quiz result: your six scores and Holland code
• Subject ratings: optional bands you pick for subjects, used only to break ties
• Role and language: whether you chose student, parent or teacher, and your language
• Theme: light or dark mode

On a shared computer, the next person who opens the site in the same browser could see these. Use "Delete my result" on the interest quiz page and "Clear all my subject ratings" in the matcher, or clear your browser's site data, when you finish.

The AI chat

• Your last few messages are sent from our server to an AI provider (DeepSeek) to write a reply. If you have taken the interest quiz, your three-letter code is sent too.
• Before sending, we replace email addresses and long numbers that look like phone numbers with a placeholder. This is not perfect, so do not share personal details.
• We do not store your chat messages and we do not write them to our logs. The provider has its own terms and privacy policy, which apply to what it receives.
• To stop misuse we count requests per IP address in a short-lived counter (it expires after an hour, and a daily total after a day). We do not link it to anything else.
• AI answers can be wrong. Please check important decisions with a teacher, a parent or your school counsellor.
• If the AI is unavailable, a built-in assistant that runs without a third party answers instead.

Hosting and technical data

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to run and protect the service. We do not run advertising or analytics scripts on the site at this time. Some pages also count requests per IP address in memory for a short time to limit abuse, and nothing is kept from those counts.

Children

Tafuta Career is made for learners, many of them under 18. We collect no personal details to use it. We encourage learners to use the AI chat together with a parent, guardian or teacher, and never to share personal information in it.

Your choices

• Delete anything stored by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
• Do not use the AI chat if you would rather nothing is sent to a third party. The rest of the site works without it.
• You may ask us about any data we hold. Because we keep no accounts, this is usually limited to the IP counter above, which expires by itself.
